But think it does, b/c Sarah Palin is making me feel about politics (real-world; Largely Unclear matters are a separate case) in a way I haven't since the late 1970s. Back then many of us did indeed "respond to symbolic cues" coming from Reagan -- and it all worked out brilliantly. And Thatcher -- omg omg omg! Baodicea! Camilla! Joan of Arc! When I hear "redneck from Alaska," I also hear "grocer's daughter from Grantham." When I hear "small-town mayor, two-year governor," I hear "milk-snatcher." And in both cases I see high heels stomping on a supercilious male face -- forever. I fight Obama on policy, not on narrative, so maybe the post doesn’t apply to me at all.
